Review (rating: 2):
I have used this knife on a number of occasions and every time I ask myself what is the big deal? America's Test Kitchen has a very inconsistent philosophy. They rate very expensive All-Clad cookware high but rarely try to rate expensive cutlery. So when they consistently give this knife the victory in every competition, I always get a chuckle. The knife is fairly sharp and is great for a cooking school where cheap and easy to sharpen knives are required but for a personal home knife, I disagree. The fibrox handles are spongy and rubbery. I prefer finished wooden handles which has firmness that translate energy more efficiently and produces a better feel when cutting. A better wooden handle knife is more expensive but well worth it if you planing to use it everyday. This knife also has a large belly and overall a...

My Victorinox paring knife is ultra sharp. The 3 1/4 inch blade is a good working length and the handle has a texture (it looks the same as the Fibrox handle on the Victorinox 8 inch Chef's Knife) that is helpful in keeping the knife under control in wet or slippery conditions. I use this little knife every day and find it's super-sharp, thiner blade actually slices and dices circles around my expensive French paring knife. This Victorinox knife is quite a bargin.

Years ago, I had and lost a small handheld sharpener that worked like a dream on knives and scissors. Having no luck finding a replacement, I ordered this one a month ago. The Wusthof works as well as my old one. I should have known. I have a Wusthof kitchen cutlery set that is 20 years old, and maybe one or two knives are finally in need of sharpening.

Been using Victornox knives since apprenticeship 30 years ago. The Santoku style with granton edge is great for prepping fish, vegetables, slicing & dicing. Great feel, balance and trademarked sharpness.
Victorinox should redesign the end of the handle with a garlic crushing mallet feature like the korean knives, very useful & fast.

I know this is a bread knife, but I use it on fruit more than anything else. Simply drag it slowly across the fruit or vegetable (which is a tomato anyway?) and very little effort is required. You may be surprised to discover that you sliced cleanly through several apple seeds without even noticing! Just be careful to keep your finger out of its path, because you probably wouldn't feel a thing.

This knife was recommended by America's Test Kitchen (love, love, love the cookbooks, web page & show). The knife was inexpensive, so I bought it. It is gigantic! Good for cutting large fruit (watermelon, pineapple, etc.) Very sharp and wonderful to use. I will be ordering the 8-in for smaller items. I liked it so much, I bought one as a gift for my sister-in-law.

Paring knives are a very personal thing. How comfortable you are with a paring knife is more important than whether it's stamped or forged, German or Japanese or how expensive it is. My wife has small hands and feels more in control using smaller knives. This CC paring knife is perfect for her. Good steel, good handle, good enough price to have a couple around. Serves its function perfectly.

Review (rating: 5):
I can't believe the superb quality of these knives. My first piece of Rada cutlery was the short bread knife, which I bought from an online retailer known for selling only the best cook's equipment. I did wonder, though, how a good knife could cost so little compared to the cost of the big-brand-name knives. Well, I was so impressed with the precision slices the bread knife made that I decided to buy from Amazon.com the 7-piece starter set, the 7-piece starter set part 2, the French chef's knife, the chef's dicer, the carver boner, the large bread knife, and the sharpener. Now my whole kitchen is Rada knives, and I have every knife I ever need. Rada knives are the only ones I use now. The knives are extremely sharp and cut with precision. (I have cut myself a couple of times as I get accustomed to the sharpness.) They are light but feel s...

Review (rating: 3):
I've owned many Chicago Cutlery knives before. All have had the wood handle and I have always been pleased. The knives offered years and years of service and are probably still doing so (I'd have to check with my ex-wife to be absolutely sure. Know what I mean?) I purchased this 5" Chicago Cutlery "Metropolitan" boning knife for a specific purpose: dressing chicken. I inadvertantly selected the "Metropolitan" when I ordered, I guess because of the cheap price. After I realized what I had done, I thought to myself "self? I'd rather have the wood handle, but this is Chicago Cutlery, man! What's the risk?" When the utensil was delivered, my first thought was "is there anything in this box?" After opening the package, I realized why: "Metropolitan" is just a fancy word for cheap, hollow plastic handled knife. I should...

Review (rating: 5):
A chef's knife is great for many of the daily tasks required in a kitchen. But if you're de-boning meat or fish, then it just won't do. The boning knife fills in as a perfect replacement for this type of job. I've used my Global boning knife for filleting every kind of fish imaginable as well as boning out pork, beef, venison, and poultry. I wouldn't dream of touching another knife for these jobs. The blade has the perfect amount of flex to get in and around joints and curved bones that would be otherwise impossible without this knife. And it still sports the ultra sharp, low maintenance blade and devilishly good looks that is expected from any Global knife. If you fabricate a lot of your own meat, then I have no idea why you don't already have this knife.
