In 20 years I have only owned two or three sets of knives these being the cheap sets that you can get for around . For my purposes these were OK. Recently I came across these R.H. Forschner by Victorinox on Amazon. Two things caught my eye. First the name. I've owned Victorinox pocket knives going back to when I was a young boy scout. Thus I was confident about the quality of the blades. The second thing that piqued my interest was the handle. It did not disappoint as it feels very nice in my hand. As for the blade it was sharper than any chef's knife from any of my previous sets. Slicing and dicing is very easy. I've never owned a Wüsthof or Henckels so I can't compare. However I have owned knives on the other end of the spectrum and can say that this knife is well worth difference in price.

We were very pleased on how the knives looked when they came out of the box...they are serrated which allows for great cutting (double serrated, so lefties are able to cut just as well :) but will be difficult to sharpen in the future. For the price, you can't beat the quality of these knives. It's still not the greatest...but it definitely does it job and we plan on using them for a few years.

This is a nice set of knives. I purchased them for show more than anything. My entire kitchen is stainless steel and I purchased this set to sit on the counter and look good with everthing else. What I found when I started to use them was that they are nice quality and hold an edge. Looks and quality, great combination.

I purchased this knife based on all the good reviews and I'm sure glad I did. This knife is my main knife now, it replaced my 0 knife. It has also inspired me to work on my knife skills. Don't be fooled by the price, it really is a great knife at an amazing price!

After doing a lot of research on Amazon, I decided to buy this set of knives for my high school son who is studying to be a chef. I figured that for a first set, the price could not be beat. My son is quite happy with these knives.
I also bought my son the knife sharpener made by the same manufacturer for use with these knives, but he wanted a different kind of sharpener.

I purchased this knife set after owning a faberware set (which was ok) for years. This Ginsu set is "EXCELLENT" and "ATTRACTIVE LOOKING"! These knives are nice and sharp and works well for someone who's looking for a reasonably priced, good cutley set. I would definitely recommend it.

Review (rating: 5):
I bought this knife on the recommendation of Cooks Illustrated. I'm not disappointed in it at all. The handle is well shaped and easy to grip with slippery hands. The blade good and sharpens well. Nothing bad to say about it and I'm not sure what else I could look for in a boning knife.

This is a knife I can't do without when I'm in the kitchen. It's extraordinarily ergonomic for peeling and paring. Make sure you buy the right one. The handle and the blade of this one is slimmer than the one also sold for a 3 inch paring/boning knife which doesn't have the same ergonomic feel and the function.

This knife is great, flexible and blade is narrow enough for efficient boning. Length of blade, flexibility, and width of blade is most important for a good boning knife

Review (rating: 5):
My husband loves to cook so I purchased this set of Rada (Made in USA) Knives for him. These are absolutely the best knives we've ever used. The Cook's Knife is our absolute favorite and Rada makes the sharpest and best veggie peeler I've ever seen. These knives are truly amazing to have such a low price point. Anyone who is a chef or who loves to cook would be amazed at the sharpness of these knives. Please be careful with them though, because they are like razor blades. I'm surprised the folks at the Food Network haven't talked about these knives.
The knives are very, very lightweight, but they do the job! The Rada Company is very impressive, to be able to make such a quality product at such a low price. It's also nice to buy a product that's actually Made in America instead of Made in China.

Review (rating: 5):
A chef's knife is great for many of the daily tasks required in a kitchen. But if you're de-boning meat or fish, then it just won't do. The boning knife fills in as a perfect replacement for this type of job. I've used my Global boning knife for filleting every kind of fish imaginable as well as boning out pork, beef, venison, and poultry. I wouldn't dream of touching another knife for these jobs. The blade has the perfect amount of flex to get in and around joints and curved bones that would be otherwise impossible without this knife. And it still sports the ultra sharp, low maintenance blade and devilishly good looks that is expected from any Global knife. If you fabricate a lot of your own meat, then I have no idea why you don't already have this knife.

Review (rating: 4):
I've had this knife in my block for a while now, and I'm still impressed.
For a cheap knife, the stamped blade performs very well. The edge is razor sharp from the factory, and stays that way with minimal effort. Treat this knife well and you will be very happy.
That said, before you buy, give some thought to whether you want a straight or curved blade. Victorinox makes a similar knife with a straight blade, which may be preferable depending upon style.
Don't be put off by the lack of flashy "Three Rivet" styling. This knife is all business.
Shun Classic 6-Inch Boning Knife
Amazon Price: .95
Average Customer Rating: 4.5
Review (rating: 3):
Shun makes great knives, I won't deny that, I have put together quite a set including an elite series chef knife as well. This knife is certainly sharp, the handles are great, whatever. The problem is that it's a terrible boning knife. The blade is completely ridged and inflexible. Boning knives should have some flex to them. This works of for chicken and such, but I wouldn't dare touch a fish with it. It might not match your beautiful shun set of knives, but victorinox makes much more useful boning knives. They're just as sharp, they bend like they're supposed to, they cost a fraction of the price, and they're ugly as sin. They won't hold an edge as long, but at least they work like they're supposed to.
