Peas on Earth
Seasonal greetings...
I first saw a similar motive in a collection of night clothes. I fell in love with them as soon as I saw the little peas and bought a t-shirt and shorts set without any second thoughts. It has been my daughter favorite set since. But all things come to an end, and little girls grow out of cute clothes. I cannot stop my daughter from growing or prevent the disintegration of her old t-shirt after too many spins in the washing machine. I can remember and wish for peace on earth.
There is a lot in this issue or there will be. We are sending this issue in two steps. The first one gives you access to our festive Winter Recipe Calendar - and we hope you check it - our first postcard for food lovers and a few other recipes and articles. On 21 December, the traditional publication date for the seasonal issues, the rest of the newsletter will be unveiled, including the recipes that triumphed in the Crock-pot Chicken Recipes contest, some party drinks for your New Year celebrations, and everything about peas.
Such is the nature of an Internet publication.
Closing the first volume
This issue of Food Naturally is the culmination of three years of hard work. Our first issue was published in January 2006 and some rain has fallen since then. Many people contributed to Food Naturally with their ideas, suggestions, questions and correcting our mistakes. While we write the newsletter, none of it would be possible without the flexibility and feedback we get from our subscribers. Thank to you all for truly making Food Naturally your newsletter.
Seasonal Eating
Thanksgiving is gone, but don't reload your freezer yet, keep some room - defrost and use some food, if necessary - for your festive shopping. How many celebrations happen in December? It is not only Christmas. There are special celebrations from every belief. Our New Year Resolution is to open our kitchen to other celebrations and incorporate at least a new festivity before the winter 2009 issue.
This year, however, we speak of Christmas, including our particular Advent Calendar, remember them? They are still around. You had to find each number and open the window to find a new motive, often also chocolate. We bring you a special kind of Advent Calendar. See our Winter Recipe Calendar where every day from 1 December to 21 December we will be opening a new recipe.
Gingerbread is the tradition for Christmas cookies. Find the traditional recipe for gingerbread dough and some ideas for decoration.
Cheap and Healthy
Find ideas for fabulously frugal finger foods for parties.
World Food & Wine
Italian cuisine is as varied as the regions in Italy. There is noticeable difference between the north and the south. We prove the point with some sample Italian recipes.
Food Naturally Line
The new competition will be hamburger meat. Ground beef recipes, those are the kind of recipes we want.
This competition runs from 21 December 2008 to the last day in February 2009. We will name a winner and the prize, as it is tradition, will be a food related book. Click here to find all the details about our latest recipe contest.
Your Questions and Suggestions
If you get a burn when cooking, does egg white help to heal it?
From: Natasha
Accidents happen and burns are one of the hazards in cooking. It is important to learn how to deal with burns. Egg whites is one of the popular remedies for burns and some people swear by them, however, we did not find any scientific evidence that it would help. Would we try it? Only after cooling the skin under running cold water and if the burn was a minor one and the skin was not broken.
