Apple Pie with Grand Marnier

Description This apple pie is a great way to finish off a festive meal because it is lighter on the calories than most pies.

  • 1 pie crust, ready to bake
  • 1/2 cup creme fraiche
  • 3-4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 3 Tbs brown sugar
  • 2 Tbs Grand Marnier
Methods/steps
  1. Bake the pie crust and let it stand for 15 minutes.
  2. Whip the creme fraiche and cover the bottom of the crust. Lay the apple slices, slightly ovelapping one another, on the creme fraiche. Mix the two sugars and sprinkle them over the apple slices.
  3. Place under the hot broiler for 5-7 minutes, until the sugar becomes golden brown. Remove from them oven and drizzle the liqueur over the the caramelized sugar.
  4. Serve a la mode -with vanilla ice cream.
