Chestnut Stuffing

Description Chestnut stuffing for the autumn. Make it flavorful, make it seasonal.

  • 2 lb chestnuts, boiled,peeled and coarsely crumbled, or 1 lb can cooked chestnuts, coarsely crumbled
  • 1 Tbs butter
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 lb sausage meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Methods/steps
  1. Heat butter in a pan. Fry onion gently, until soft and translucent.
  2. Add sausage meat and brown, stirring frequently, for about 5-8 minutes.
  3. Mix sausage meat with chestnuts and breadcrumbs.
  4. Season with allspice, nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Allow to cool before using.
