Marzipan Filled Pears

Description A sweet dessert and a dessert with fruit, this is healthier than a simple cake.

  • 2 large pears, peeled, seeds removed and halved
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 2 Tbs lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 2 Tbs maple syrup
  • 1/4 lb marzipan
  • 3 Tbs Cointreau
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbs chopped pistachios
Methods/steps
  1. Place wine, lemon juice, coriander seeds and maple syrup in a pan and bring to the boil. Add the pear halves and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Remove the pears. Keep the liquid.
  2. Mix marzipan and Cointreau. fill the cavity in the pear halves with this mixture. Cook under the broiler for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix cornstarch with a little water and add to the liquid in the pan. Incorporate the chopped pistachios and simmer until it has thickened.
  4. Place 1 pear piece on each plate, distribute the sauce among them.
