Warm Chocolate Sauce

Description Prepare this warm chocolate sauce using the traditional double boiler or the microwave oven. This second method is great when one needs to create a special dessert in minutes.

  • 4 oz baking chocolate, about 4 squares, broken into pieces
  • 3 Tbs heavy cream
  • 2 Tbs water
  • 3-4 drops vanilla essence
  • 1 Tbs sugar
Methods/steps
Traditional
  1. Place chocolate, sugar and water in a saucepan or the top pan of a double boiler. Heat slowly, stirring often, until the sugar dissolves and the chocolate melts.
  2. Remove from the heat, add cream and vanilla essence. Keep warm.
Microwave
  1. Place sugar, water and chocolate in a recipient, cover and heat on medium for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add cream and vanilla essence. Leave to stand for 2 minutes.
Additional Tips
Times for the microwave are approximate as every appliance has different power settings. Experiment and adjust the time and setting.
